This children book illustration was created in watercolors and color pencils.
The outline black inking was done with two diferent types of pen. I use one of 0.5 mm for the thicker outline and then the secondary inner details are rendered with a thinner 0.2mm pen.
After the outline was created, i applied a vast watercolor wash of blue to create the backround with some brush strokes to simulate the surface.
Then, applied more watercolor washes to give texture to the diferent elements on the scenery and finaly used diferent color pencils to add little details drawing over the initial color wash.
Finally to create that underwater illusion i added some scattered little white dots in several diferent areas of the pic to give it more luminosity and simulate air bubbles.
